This policy explains the information Tackologie handles when you use the website or the Tackologie browser extension.

What this covers

Tackologie is a visual discovery and collecting service for static-image Tacks that link to meaningful source pages. This policy covers tackologie.com and the Tackologie Chrome extension. It does not cover the privacy practices of source websites you visit or link to.

Information we handle

Account information. When you create an account, Tackologie collects the name you provide, your email address, and password-authentication information so it can create and secure your account. Account records also include account identifiers, optional public alias, account role, and account-creation or verification details needed to operate the service.

Tacks and source information. When you submit a Tack, Tackologie handles the source URL and any redirect or verified source URL, source domain and title, selected static-image URL and image file, image alt text, Tack title and description, source-context fields, moderation and verification information, and timestamps. The service may fetch and process the submitted source page and selected image to check the source, extract relevant page context, confirm that the image is an eligible static format, and create the Tack.

Your collections and submissions. We store your saves, Stacks/boards, board sections and placements, public-alias setting, and any text you submit with an appeal of a rejected Tack. If a password reset or an appeal receipt is requested, the relevant email address and reset or receipt details are used to deliver that message.

Website usage data. The live website uses PostHog for page-view and interaction analytics. Its current website configuration uses cookies and local storage for analytics persistence, and stores incoming campaign parameters in session storage during a browsing session. This helps us understand how the website is used and how visitors reached it.

Chrome extension: active-tab use only

The extension acts only after you open it on the current tab. It reads that active page's URL, title, eligible static-image URLs and related page context so you can choose an image for a Tack. When you continue to Tackologie, the selected information is passed to Tackologie for source validation and Tack creation.

The extension does not request or collect browsing history, cookies, clipboard data, or Chrome identity permission. It does not run persistently across other tabs. It does not use remote code: the executable JavaScript is packaged with the extension, and the extension does not load or execute remotely hosted JavaScript, WebAssembly, or other executable logic.

The extension does not collect your Tackologie sign-in credentials or authentication session. If you continue to the website, normal website sign-in and account controls apply there.

How we use and share information

We use this information to operate accounts, let you create, save, organize, and display Tacks, validate sources and static images, moderate submitted Tacks, respond to appeals, send requested password-reset or appeal messages, and understand website use. We do not sell personal information. We do not use the extension's active-tab information for advertising.

Tackologie uses Convex to provide the application database, authentication, and file storage; PostHog for the website analytics described above; Vercel to host the website; and, where configured, a transactional notification service for password-reset or appeal receipt email delivery. These providers process information only as needed for those services. A public Tack may display its image, Tack text, and source information publicly after it is verified and approved, so other visitors can discover it and follow its source link.

Storage, retention, and your controls

Tackologie stores account records, Tack records, source and verification information, saved-Tack relationships, and board organization records to provide the service. A private browser Tack can be removed from your saved Tacks; the product deletes that private Tack record and its stored image. You can also remove saves, board placements, sections, and boards through the product controls.

Public Tack records are independent of any one person's save, so removing a save or board does not necessarily remove a public Tack. The product does not currently present a self-service account-deletion workflow or a published fixed retention schedule.
